I tried to read it in 2007, when I was in the army, but it failed. The level of English is too high to read for me. Frankly speaking, it was not easy even now. But finally I made it. Good for me! (2022_33) 중세중국사 - 미야자키 이치사다 This is fantastic book. This is the best book on the medieval history of China. It covers almost 1,000 years, from late Han dynasty to Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The author, Dr Miyazaki, is the most well-known guru on medieval Chinese history, and he proved it to be true. It was brief, but very solid and full of a lot of insights. The interview was done when he was diagnosis with cancer and waiting for his last moment. That's why the title is 'The Last Lesson of Mr Lee'. He said lots of things, but if I must pick up the most impressive thing, I'd say this line: Life is a gift. He said when he was young, he thought a lot of things were made by hims.. (2022_31) The Better Angels of Our Nature - Steven Pinker It’s very thick book! To read over this book, I applied a new way; read just 5 pages a day, no more, no less. It took about 5 months to read all pages. Frankly speaking, my reading skill is not enough to read this kind of book yet. But I believe this experience motivated me a little more. One thing I noticed is that even though it is true that violence has been decreased over the long human hist.. (2022_30) Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton I already watched the movie several times, so the first thing I noticed was the difference between the movie and the novel. In general, I prefer the movie version over the novel because, I don't know, just it's probably more familiar to me. I was just quite proud of the fact that I finally made it all the way through this legendary novel. Hey, I'm a man who have read the Jurassic Park novel! (2022_29) We Need to Talk - Celeste Headlee (2) I re-read this book because I recommended it to the members of the book club. As the author said, listening carefully and putting myself in someone else's shoes are always not easy. But I have to keep it in mind and try to internalize it. It was good chance to remind me of this truth, whici is simple and difficult to do. (2022_28) Normal People - Sally Rooney Well.. the title is Normal People, but this is a story about people who don't seem a bit normal. Maybe I'm too old to understand the relationship between Connell and Marianne. It is so called relationship of MZ generation? Anyhow I couldn't relate to it, just tried to accept it. The word Love isn't enough to describe their relationship. I think they certainly love each other, but they aren't dat.. (2022_27) 합격 신 엄마의 영재 교육법 - 사토 료코 Once I watched a YouTube clip about usefulness of study in the living room, I found out one famous mom in Japan. She wrote a book so I picked it up and read it. But this book is sort of disappointing to me. I respect her philosophy of education, but lots of things are against mine. She seems like a very typical Gangnam mom to me. The style of writing was dynamic and characters were vivid. Above all, the backdrop of the story was Taiwan after the Chinese Civil War. As I always say, I love history.
